Chip Kidd: He is a book cover designer turned author. He has designed over 1,000 book covers. He was a design student at Penn State. He has been referred to as “the closest thing to a rock star” in graphic design today (USA Today). He now writes books and designs his own covers. He calls the whole process being an author. In 2007 he received a Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award for one of his covers.

John Gall: He is vice president and art director for vintage and anchor books. He studied art and design at Rutgers. His covers play with the perceptions of the viewer in unexpected ways, and to satisfying effect (Step). He explored different aesthetics that go against traditional ways and what he was taught was correct and incorrect in school.
